Heavy or repetitive tasks can cause tendon, nerve or joint trouble of hands or wrists.
If your sport, hobby or work duties are the source of symptoms, a hand therapy assessment can assist. We will analyse your hand use, the structures involved and will design a treatment program. This can include:
- adjustment of use/change of habits
- range of motion or strengthening exercising
- massage therapy
- provision of a suitable orthosis
Common overuse conditions
We have excellent treatment options available for tendon, nerve or joint overuse conditions. Common problems include:
- De Quervain Tenosynovitis: painful tendon inflammation on the thumb-side of the wrist
- Trigger finger: locking or clicking of fingers when moving from closed to open positions
- Joint inflammation: ongoing heavy or repetitive hand use can cause painful joint damage
- Carpal tunnel syndrome: nerve compression in the wrist causing tingling, numbness or a burning sensation in the thumb to ring fingers.
